How do I deal with an alcoholic that has quit drinking for a year and has desided they want to have a drink ?

My husband quit drinking a little over a year ago and now he's decided he wants to drink once in a while. He was forced to quit in the hospital because he was drinking so much his body almost gave up on him.How do I deal with an alcoholic that has quit drinking for a year and has desided they want to have a drink ?
Do everything you can to prevent him from drinking. If the condition one year ago was that severe, he will go back again.

He only says now that he will drink only a glass or two, but most likely he will not be able to control himself, and the addiction will come back.

if you can't cope on your own, take him to a doctorHow do I deal with an alcoholic that has quit drinking for a year and has desided they want to have a drink ?
well, i say take him to AA, not Al-Anon.

but the truth is you can't control his actions 24 hours a day. many alcoholics think they can start drinking a little, and maybe he is the 1 in a million that can, but it is unlikely.

YOU should start going to Al anon to learn what you can do - mostly for yourself.
he's in denial over his alcohol addiction. How soon we forget huh? If he ever attended Al-Anon he needs to call someone ASAP. Otherwise, he might need to start going. It will help him just to spend time with other people who feel the same way he does. Best of luck honey! I hope he doesn't decide to start drinking again. Put your foot down and let him know it won't be tolerated in your marriage. If he starts drinking now he'll likely never stop.
Does he have a buddy from AA? I would encourage him to get help at AA or from a counselor. Like one of the other post said, you cannot control an alcoholic, it will drive you mad. I encourage you to get support as well. Good luck.
get away from him. he needs to realize what he is jeopardizing by drinking again..
