How to deal with an alcoholic father?

When I was younger, i use to stay up in the middle of the night and wait till he came home, to put him to sleep, and give him food.

I use to take his keys away, and lay him on the floor, and sit with him until he fell asleep.

I would throw away his beers when he fell asleep.

Right now he is very drunk, i am trying to get him to sleep,How to deal with an alcoholic father?
How old are you? You have to realize that no matter how much you love him, you cannot ';fix'; him. He has to do it himself and he obviously does not want to be fixed. And I wonder if I can safely assume that you have tried to get him to AA or rehab? There's really only one option left to you. Have him Baker Acted and put into a hospital for his safety. They will detox him and hopefully convince him to get some desperately needed help. How to deal with an alcoholic father?
Alcoholism is a disease with psychological, physiological, social, and family aspects. An alcoholic will only engage in treatment when he feels that things are so bad for him that they can not possibly get worse. This is called hitting bottom. Your father has to hit bottom and choose treatment. Nothing you do will expedite that decision. Trying to talk an alcoholic out of drinking will have the same level of success as trying to talk a cancer patient out of his cancer. Alcoholism is as much of a disease as cancer.

At this point, you need to take care of yourself. Join AL-ANON or Ala-teen. There are meetings all over the world. You will meet people who have been where you are now. They can provide both emotional support to you and tell you how they coped with the situation you're now in.

Best of luck,

Where is your mum? I had this same problem with both my parents and believe me it messes up your life. You need to get external help before its too late.
i think you should talk to someone and get him some help. like into a group or something that can help him with his problems. and when he is sober talk to him about how u feel and how it affects you... :( its a sad thing to go through I know
You can't change him or help him. Let him be and if he find his way, god blessed him; if not; god dammed him.

It's up to him to chance and no one can make him. Trust me.
